About the Role

As a freight agent at HireNow Staffing, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing customer relationships, and managing transportation solutions across the domestic market. This role requires strong business development skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to operate with a high level of autonomy. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, building long-term customer partnerships, and negotiating profitable freight opportunities.

The freight agent role is critical to the success of HireNow Staffing's clients, as it involves creating value for shippers, securing transportation capacity, and developing long-term customer partnerships. You will be working independently, making decisions quickly, and adapting to changing market conditions. Your success will be measured by your ability to grow revenue, gross profit, and overall transportation business volume.

The ideal candidate will have experience in domestic freight brokerage, transportation sales, logistics sales, or freight business development. You will have a strong understanding of freight lanes, market pricing, transportation capacity, and carrier sourcing. You will be self-motivated, with a hunter mentality and the ability to generate opportunities through outbound business development.

What You Will Do

  • Develop new shipper relationships and generate freight opportunities throughout the United States
  • Prospect, qualify, and secure new transportation accounts
  • Build long-term customer partnerships through proactive communication and service excellence
  • Negotiate freight rates with customers and transportation providers
  • Identify capacity solutions through carrier networks and transportation resources
  • Manage freight opportunities from prospecting through shipment execution
  • Coordinate shipment visibility, communication, and service updates
  • Monitor market trends, capacity fluctuations, and transportation pricing conditions
  • Maintain strong relationships with carriers, transportation providers, and logistics partners
  • Grow revenue, gross profit, and overall transportation business volume
  • Manage customer expectations while ensuring high levels of service and responsiveness
  • Support continuous account growth through strategic business development initiatives

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience within domestic freight brokerage, transportation sales, logistics sales, or freight business development
  • Experience working with domestic 3PL providers, freight brokerages, transportation intermediaries, and/or asset-based carriers
  • Strong understanding of freight lanes, market pricing, transportation capacity, and carrier sourcing
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop, and secure new freight business
  • Experience negotiating transportation rates and freight solutions
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently in a commission-based environment
  • Hunter mentality with a proven ability to generate opportunities through outbound business development
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple customer opportunities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software
  • Knowledge of international freight forwarding and customs clearance procedures
  • Certification in transportation or logistics, such as the Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) designation
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment
  • Familiarity with data analytics and performance metrics in the transportation industry
