About the Role

The Front End Engineer position at Decile Group is a unique opportunity to join a team that is revolutionizing the venture capital industry. As a key member of the Decile Group tech team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the front-end experiences of the Decile Hub platform. This role entails working closely with the product and design teams to translate designs into real interfaces, ensuring that every pixel and interaction contributes to a seamless user experience.

Day-to-day, you will be working within a Rails codebase, utilizing Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus alongside ERB templates to craft polished and performant front-end experiences. Your strong eye for UI detail will be crucial in identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or areas for improvement in the platform's design. You will also be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in front-end engineering, leveraging AI tools to accelerate your work and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Decile Hub platform.

What You Will Do

  • Build polished, performant front-end experiences for the Decile Hub platform
  • Own the UI layer of Decile Hub features, from layout and interaction design to responsive behavior and accessibility
  • Work within a Rails codebase, utilizing Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus alongside ERB templates
  • Translate designs into real interfaces, working closely with product and design teams
  • Identify and address UI inconsistencies, leveraging your strong eye for detail
  • Utilize AI coding tools to accelerate your work, including UI generation, debugging, refactoring, and writing tests
  • Collaborate with the product and design teams to implement flows that are both functional and provide a great user experience
  • Raise issues when a design won't hold up in practice, contributing to the continuous improvement of the platform
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code and sharing knowledge with the team
  • Stay updated with the latest front-end engineering trends and technologies, applying this knowledge to improve the Decile Hub platform

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of professional front-end development experience, including work within Rails applications
  • Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to build complex layouts and interactions without relying on heavy frameworks
  • Experience with Hotwire/Turbo/Stimulus or a willingness to learn it deeply
  • A genuine eye for good UI, with the ability to notice and address details that most engineers might miss
  • Active use of AI coding tools as part of your workflow
  • Ability to communicate clearly with designers and product managers about what's feasible and what isn't
  • A portfolio or examples of real work you've shipped, demonstrating your skills and experience
  • Strong understanding of the Rails request cycle, allowing you to work efficiently across the stack
  • Familiarity with responsive design principles and accessibility guidelines

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first CSS frameworks
  • Familiarity with data-heavy or workflow-heavy SaaS interfaces, including tables, forms, and dashboards
  • Basic comfort with Ruby and Rails beyond the front end, allowing for more comprehensive understanding and contribution to the platform
  • Experience with version control systems like Git, and collaboration tools such as Zoom and Slack
