About the Role

As a Frontend Engineer for HyperDX at Clickhouse, you will play a crucial role in shaping the product and building key features that enhance the developer experience. HyperDX is an open-source platform designed to transform telemetry data into actionable insights, making it an exciting opportunity for those passionate about observability and real-time analytics. The role involves working closely with the community, open-source contributors, and customers to solve challenges and incorporate feedback into the roadmap.

The HyperDX platform aims to revolutionize how engineers monitor, debug, and scale their production applications by providing a seamless integration of logs, metrics, traces, and session replays. What You Will Do

  • Develop and own key features of the HyperDX platform, focusing on frontend and backend systems for debugging and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the open-source community and customers to understand their needs and incorporate their feedback into the product roadmap.
  • Work on supercharging HyperDX to efficiently handle petabytes of observability data, enabling lightning-fast analysis tools for engineers.
  • Engage in technical challenges related to scaling the cloud-hosted platform for a growing customer base, ensuring seamless performance.
  • Participate in the design and development of groundbreaking analysis tools that empower engineers to solve production issues more effectively.
  • Collaborate with the team to craft an amazing developer experience, leveraging your expertise in frontend development.
  • Contribute to the growth of the HyperDX community through your work and interactions with users and contributors.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and approaches in frontend development and observability, applying this knowledge to improve the HyperDX platform.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality and best practices within the team.

What We Are Looking For

  • A full stack JavaScript developer with a strong background in both frontend and backend development.
  • Experience with TypeScript and Node.js, including Next.js for the frontend and Express for the backend.
  • Strong proficiency in React.js and SQL for query generation on ClickHouse.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • A passion for open source and the developer community, with a preference for building developer tools.
  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on developer tools and platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with creating developer tooling and an eye for how to design for developers.
  • Familiarity with adjust and Excel, or similar technologies, is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in distributed systems and event ingestion pipelines.
  • Experience working with columnar databases and knowledge of their applications.
  • Strong opinions on observability tools and a vision for making them more effective.
  • Familiarity with additional languages like Python, Rust, or PHP for building integrations.
  • Experience with SDKs and their integration into observability platforms.
