Job Description

About the Role

As a Frontend Web Development Instructor at BYU-Pathway Worldwide, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing high-quality educational experiences to students worldwide. Your primary focus will be on teaching and mentoring students in frontend web development courses, utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. This part-time, remote position offers a flexible schedule, requiring approximately 10-12 hours per week, with the possibility of variation.

The role involves using your subject matter expertise to identify trends that impede academic success and conduct targeted outreach to students. You will work closely with students to build their confidence and capabilities as learners, both academically and professionally. It's essential to note that you will not be responsible for developing lessons or assessments, nor will you issue grades, as these tasks are handled by a separate team of qualified graders.

What You Will Do

  • Teach and mentor students in frontend web development courses, focusing on WDD 130, WDD 131, WDD 231, and WDD 330.
  • Utilize your expertise in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to provide instruction and support to students.
  • Conduct regular, virtual meetings with students to discuss their progress and challenges.
  • Identify trends that impede academic success and develop targeted interventions.
  • Provide individualized support to students, addressing their unique learning needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with the instructional team to share best practices and enhance the learning experience.
  • Participate in periodic team meetings to align with departmental objectives and share insights.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in frontend web development to continuously improve the curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Uphold the CES Honor Code and dress and grooming expectations, serving as a role model for students.

What We Are Looking For

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Authorization to work in Brazil.
  • Strong expertise in frontend web development, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring, preferably in an online or remote setting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
