About the Role

The Full Stack AI Engineer position at Otonomee represents a pivotal moment in the company's journey towards building a robust AI platform. As the first software engineering hire, this role is fundamental in establishing the foundation of Otonomee's AI capability. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and shipping AI-powered applications from end-to-end, including backend, data, APIs, and lightweight UI components. This role is highly hands-on, particularly in the early stages, requiring the ability to transform ambiguous business problems into tangible, working solutions using AI-native development tools.

The role reports directly to the CTO, with a dotted line to the Product Builder, ensuring a balanced approach between technical expertise and product vision. As Otonomee grows, the role will evolve, shifting towards platform architecture, integrations, and technical leadership. This evolution presents a unique opportunity for professional growth, allowing the engineer to leave a lasting impact on the company's technical foundation.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications end-to-end, encompassing backend, data, APIs, and UI components.
  • Utilize AI-native tools to accelerate delivery and solve complex business problems efficiently.
  • Apply key AI patterns such as RAG, agents, prompt engineering, and evaluation to drive innovation.
  • Build and scale the AI Platform on Azure, ensuring multi-region support and high availability.
  • Own core components such as APIM, identity, networking, observability, and data, setting the standard for the platform's infrastructure.
  • Establish CI/CD, IaC, testing, and deployment standards to ensure smooth operations and scalability.
  • Integrate with internal and third-party systems, including CRM and CX platforms, leveraging tools like Zendesk, Genesys, and Intercom.
  • Develop APIs, webhooks, and event-driven systems for seamless integrations.
  • Embed security and compliance standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 into the platform, ensuring data protection and access control.
  • Partner with the Security and GRC teams to ensure the highest levels of data security and compliance.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in shipping full-stack applications from concept to production.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/LLMs, such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, or Anthropic.
  • Familiarity with RAG, vector databases, and agent-based systems.
  • Confidence in using AI-native development tools to accelerate project delivery.
  • Strong backend skills in languages such as Python, C#/.NET, or Node.js.
  • Working knowledge of frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, or similar.
  • Experience with Azure and cloud architecture, including deployment and management.
  • Understanding of IaC and CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment and scaling.
  • Experience with integrating SaaS platforms via APIs and events.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, with the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Comfortable working in an early-stage environment with a strong product thinking and problem-solving mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CX platforms such as Zendesk, Intercom, or Genesys.
  • Previous startup or scale-up experience, particularly in building internal platforms or tools.
  • Exposure to compliance-heavy environments and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
