About the Role

The Full Stack Development role at Float is an integral part of the company's mission to simplify finance for Canadian businesses. As a member of one of Float's product-focused engineering squads, you will be responsible for building end-to-end experiences that thousands of Canadian businesses use daily. What You Will Do

  • Build and evolve end-to-end product features across backend, frontend, and APIs.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver simple, intuitive user experiences.
  • Translate customer needs into thoughtful technical solutions that scale.
  • Make principled trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Own features in production, including iteration, reliability, and improvement over time.
  • Contribute to shared standards, tooling, and practices that raise the bar for the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve Float's product offerings.
  • Work closely with the QA team to ensure high-quality products.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high coding standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proficiency in a range of programming languages, including but not limited to JavaScript, Python, and HTML/CSS.
  • Experience with backend frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or Flask.
  • Strong understanding of frontend development, including React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Familiarity with database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working in collaborative environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a self-motivated approach to learning and professional development.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
