About the Role

The Language Doctors is seeking an exceptional German to English Medical Linguist to join their team. As a medical linguist, you will be responsible for translating medical texts from German to English, ensuring that the translations are accurate, precise, and culturally sensitive. You will work closely with a dynamic team committed to excellence in language services, contributing to impactful projects in the medical and life sciences fields.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include translating a wide range of medical documents, such as patient records, medical reports, and clinical trial documents. You will need to maintain the tone and style of the original text while ensuring that the translation is accurate and free of errors. You will also be responsible for adhering to the company's style guide and maintaining terminology consistency and data accuracy.

What You Will Do

  • Translate medical documents from German to English, including patient records, medical reports, and clinical trial documents
  • Maintain the tone and style of the original text while ensuring that the translation is accurate and free of errors
  • Adhere to the company's style guide and maintain terminology consistency and data accuracy
  • Work closely with the team to ensure that translations are completed on time and to a high standard
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge
  • Utilize linguistic assets and tools, such as SDL Trados, to facilitate accurate and efficient translations
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that translations are consistent and of high quality
  • Meet deadlines and deliver high-quality translations in a timely manner
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments and advancements in medical terminology and translation technology

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in medical translations, including experience with patient records and medical reports
  • Broad medical vocabulary and proficiency in utilizing linguistic assets
  • Native and/or near-native fluency in both German and English
  • Ability to work under deadlines and deliver high-quality translations on time
  • Experience with SDL Trados and other linguistic tools and software
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and consistency in translations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to new developments and advancements in medical terminology and translation technology

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other languages, such as French or Spanish
  • Knowledge of medical specialties, such as cardiology or oncology
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical software, such as Excel
  • Certification in medical translation, such as the Certified Medical Translator (CMT) credential
