About the Role

The Global Medical Affairs Asset Lead (GMAL) role at Amgen is a critical position that entails co-leading the development and execution of global product medical strategy for rare diseases. As a key member of the medical affairs team, you will be responsible for driving the creation of scientific evidence gaps, evidence generation strategy, and plans in alignment with the Global Brand Plan. Your expertise in rare diseases will be essential in maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders, medical societies, and external stakeholders to advance Amgen's scientific and medical objectives. The GMAL role is part of Amgen's broader mission to serve patients living with serious illnesses, and you will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including product teams, therapeutic area governance, and portfolio governance. Your day-to-day activities will involve colaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and execute global medical strategies and plans for products in the rare disease therapeutic area. As a medical leader, you will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest research, scientific advancements, and market trends in rare diseases, ensuring that Amgen remains at the forefront of innovation in this space.

What You Will Do

  • Provide medical leadership and strategic direction for Amgen's global portfolio in rare diseases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute global medical strategies and plans for products in the rare disease therapeutic area
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in rare diseases, keeping up-to-date with the latest research, scientific advancements, and market trends
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, medical societies, and other external stakeholders to advance Amgen's scientific and medical objectives
  • Lead and participate in global advisory boards, medical education programs, and other medical activities to support the adoption and appropriate use of Amgen's products
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines related to medical affairs activities
  • Oversee the development and execution of medical communication plans, including publications, presentations, and congress activities
  • Provide medical input and support for product development, including clinical trial design and data interpretation
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to develop and implement medical strategies for product launches and life-cycle management

What We Are Looking For

  • Advanced degree in medicine, science, or a related field (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD)
  • Significant experience in medical affairs, preferably in the rare disease space
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and developing global medical strategies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory environment, and healthcare landscape
  • Experience with clinical trial design, data interpretation, and medical communication plans
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically
