Government Affairs Manager (Tennessee)

About the Role

Day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on key priorities, as well as working with external partners to advance SpaceX's interests in the region. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups.

As a remote role, the Government Affairs Manager will need to be self-motivated and able to work independently, with a high degree of flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business. This may include traveling statewide to support company priorities, as well as attending political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX.

What You Will Do

• Lead engagement with civic leaders across Memphis and the broader Tennessee region to support core SpaceX priorities
• Develop, maintain, and build-upon a network of relationships with local government officials, lawmakers, and regulatory decision-makers
• Monitor and analyze local and regional policy developments, providing recommendations for action to internal stakeholders
• Perform research as needed, developing policy and collateral materials to support government affairs efforts
• Partner with the SpaceX Communications team to identify and support outreach and messaging opportunities
• Support the director of Government Affairs with statewide government relations priorities as needed
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on key priorities and objectives
• Develop and implement strategic plans to advance SpaceX's interests in Tennessee
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders and local business organizations
• Provide policy and regulatory expertise to internal stakeholders, helping to inform business decisions

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, government affairs, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience working in public affairs, including state and local government policy, advocacy, government affairs, and/or legislative navigation and crisis/issue management
• Strong understanding of local government affairs practices and regulations in Tennessee
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Demonstrated history of achieving definitive, measurable outcomes through political or community engagement
• Experience working on issues directly related to corporate community relations
• Knowledge of local government affairs practices and regulations
