About the Role

The Government Insuring Team Lead position at Planet is a critical component of the company's mortgage operations. This role entails leading a team responsible for reviewing and processing government-insured loans, ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of these guidelines and the ability to interpret and apply them in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day, the team lead will assign and oversee the workflow of team members, conduct training sessions to ensure team members are up-to-date on the latest guidelines and procedures, and perform quality control reviews to guarantee accuracy and compliance. This role also involves serving as a backup to the Assistant Vice President of Government Insuring, necessitating strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

What You Will Do

  • Assign daily workflow to team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of FHA, VA, and USDA insuring applications.
  • Conduct training and coaching of team members to ensure understanding of published guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform random quality control reviews of team member work output to ensure compliance with guidelines and procedure.
  • Serve as the backup to the AVP, Government Insuring as needed.
  • Audit closed loan files to ensure all required documents by FHA, VA, or USDA are present, complete, and accurate.
  • Remit UFMIP, VAFF, and USDA fees timely and accurately as required.
  • Prepare loan files in the appropriate stacking order for HUD and VA audit file requests.
  • Submit loan deficiencies for remediation as needed.
  • Review and respond to Notice of Rejects (NOR) timely and accurately.
  • Validate the insuring status and accuracy of acquired loans.
  • Perform additional government loan review and research as needed.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in a government insuring environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA requirements for loan insurance applications.
  • Familiarity with key loan documents such as 92900A, IRRRL Worksheets, and Closing Disclosure.
  • Experience with the usage of FHA-Connection, WebLGY, and the USDA portal for insurance applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Mastery of FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines related to insuring applications.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote role while meeting deadlines and achieving desired results.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven skills with MS Office Products.
