About the Role
The Group Benefits Overpayment Calculations Specialist role at Mutual Of Omaha is a critical position that ensures the accuracy of disability benefit claim calculations. This is a high-volume production environment where attention to detail and analytical skills are paramount. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing complex calculations for short-term and long-term claims, taking initiative to resolve outstanding overpayments, and managing daily earnings calculations to ensure accurate and timely processing of disability income.In this role, you will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining financial integrity, compliance, and fostering trust with claimants and stakeholders. What You Will Do
- Complete complex calculations for short-term and long-term claims
- Take initiative to resolve outstanding overpayments for STD/LTD claims
- Manage daily earnings calculations to ensure accurate and timely processing of disability income
- Conduct daily and monthly financial accuracy checks to keep processes smooth and error-free
- Build strong connections by promptly responding to inquiries and fostering effective working relationships
- Excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where your contributions drive real impact
- Develop and maintain strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Utilize MS Excel and Word to navigate multiple systems and perform tasks efficiently
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive and productive team environment
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve processes
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in financial group disability, with a focus on benefits calculations
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, with the ability to navigate multiple systems
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and organization skills, with a desire to learn and grow
- Ability to work in a high-output production environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Experience working with FINEOS system or similar software
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
- 3-5 years of experience in financial group disability, including BWE/BME calculations, partial calculations, offsets, and file recalculations
- Prior experience in a related role, such as a benefits Calculation Specialist or similar
- Certification in a related field, such as financial analysis or insurance
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
