Group Manager, Detectors (Zürich)

## About the Role As a Group Manager at Lakera, you will be responsible for leading the Detectors Group, a team of skilled machine learning engineers and researchers. Your primary objective will be to drive the technical vision, roadmap, and execution of Lakera's detector and defense models. This role is critical to the company's mission of providing the best, fastest, and broadest threat detection to secure every GenAI and agentic AI application. The Detectors Group is at the forefront of Lakera's security efforts, and as the Group Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the company's security defenses. You will work closely with the Product, Research, GTM, and other Engineering teams to ensure that the detection roadmap aligns with customer needs and translates into engineering priorities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing several work streams, leading and growing the Detectors Group, recruiting top ML and software engineering talent, and developing senior ICs and tech leads.

## What You Will Do - Own the technical vision, roadmap, and execution for Lakera's detector and defense models - Lead and grow the Detectors Group, currently consisting of approximately 12 engineers - Recruit top ML and software engineering talent and develop senior ICs and tech leads - Partner closely with Product, Research, GTM, and other Engineering teams - Drive architectural and modeling decisions across production defense systems - Establish technical and operational processes for experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and iteration - Design the organization for rapid growth without sacrificing execution velocity - Shape the evolution of Lakera's AI security defenses as the company scales - Manage multiple work streams and prioritize tasks effectively - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication - Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the latest advancements in machine learning and AI security

## What We Are Looking For - 10+ years of experience in machine learning, applied AI, and software systems - Strong technical expertise in machine learning and software engineering - Proven track record of driving technical strategy and execution - Experience managing managers and leading multi-layered teams - Excellent leadership and mentorship skills - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively - Experience with GTM and its applications in machine learning and AI security - Strong understanding of the latest advancements in machine learning and AI security

## Nice to Have - Experience building ML systems for security, trust and safety, or adversarial domains - Background in deploying ML systems under strict latency, reliability, or adversarial constraints - Familiarity with agentic AI and GenAI applications - Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization
