Job Description

About the Role

The GSI Global Engineering Leader is a senior leadership role that oversees the strategic transformation of engineering operations across a global organization. This position is responsible for managing a large team of engineers, defining and implementing global engineering strategies, and driving operational excellence. The role is critical to the success of the company, as it requires a deep understanding of technical expertise, commercial awareness, and organizational influence.

As the leader of the engineering function, this role will be responsible for establishing operating mechanisms and collaboration frameworks across the engineering community. This includes defining Make or Buy strategies, elevating the project engineering function, and supporting the CTO Office in shaping the strategic product roadmap.

The GSI Global Engineering Leader will also be responsible for overseeing the GSI Center of Excellence (CoE) and the Project Engineering Office (PEO). This includes driving the development and enforcement of global engineering standards, tools, and methodologies, and promoting standardization, modularization, and knowledge capitalization across all regions.

What You Will Do

  • Define and champion a forward-looking global engineering strategy aligned with the company's growth ambitions and customer commitments
  • Establish operating mechanisms and collaboration frameworks across the engineering community
  • Define Make or Buy strategies and elevate the project engineering function
  • Support the CTO Office in shaping the strategic product roadmap
  • Oversee the GSI Center of Excellence (CoE) and the Project Engineering Office (PEO)
  • Drive the development and enforcement of global engineering standards, tools, and methodologies
  • Promote standardization, modularization, and knowledge capitalization across all regions
  • Embed lean engineering, design-to-cost, and value engineering practices throughout the organization
  • Establish clear performance KPIs and ensure engineering budgets are rigorously managed
  • Identify risks and opportunities across regions and solution lines
  • Enable rapid ramp-up of engineering capacity to meet business growth targets
  • Support industrialization of reference solutions and manage global Engineering Supply and Demand

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master's preferred) with 15-20+ years of progressive experience in EPC environments
  • Experience in Transmission & Distribution, Power Generation, or related sectors
  • Strong technical credibility and executive communication skills
  • Global mindset and ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Ability to champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Strong people leadership skills and ability to lead a large, globally dispersed engineering organization
  • Experience with Excel and other engineering tools
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Nice to Have

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM), Systems Engineering (CMMi), and the Engineering Management Handbook (EMH)
  • Knowledge of advanced technologies including simulation, digital twins, AI, and engineering automation
  • Experience with lean engineering, design-to-cost, and value engineering practices
