About the Role
The GSI Project Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality are met throughout the project lifecycle, from initial inquiry to final delivery. This involves developing and implementing comprehensive quality plans, conducting thorough inspections, and collaborating closely with suppliers and subcontractors to guarantee compliance with project requirements and industry standards. As a key member of the project team, the GSI Project Quality Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, engineering, and procurement, to identify and mitigate quality risks. - Develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for project execution, supplier manufacturing, and site construction activities.
- Lead project quality activities across ITO and OTR phases, ensuring compliance with project requirements, customer specifications, company standards, and applicable regulations.
- Partner with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to coordinate quality activities across customers, suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, procurement, and site teams.
- Support and oversee FATs, inspections, customer visits, supplier surveillance, and project site visits to ensure quality requirements are met throughout execution.
- Track project quality KPIs, manage deviations, non-conformances, customer complaints, and corrective actions, and drive issues through full resolution.
- Perform and facilitate root cause analysis and continuous improvement using tools such as 8D, DMAIC, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and CAPA methodologies.
- Participate in project, engineering, procurement, and risk review meetings to identify quality risks and support mitigation planning.
- Plan, conduct, and support project, process, supplier, and site audits, including validation of supplier quality plans and follow-up of audit findings.
- Develop and deliver quality training, tools, and guidance, and serve as a subject matter expert for assigned quality processes and equipment.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5-10+ years of experience in project quality, quality engineering, or quality management within high-voltage substations, transmission & distribution, EPC, or large infrastructure projects.
- Experience developing and executing Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans, FAT/SAT activities, supplier quality oversight, and field construction quality programs.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable standards and requirements, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NEMA, and ISO 9001.
- Experience managing non-conformances, CAPA, root cause analysis, audits, customer complaints, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
