Job Description

About the Role

As a Handy Person at Accor's Cooinda Lodge Kakadu, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the resort's facilities and equipment. Your day-to-day tasks will involve performing daily checks and minor repairs, maintaining guest facilities, and supporting scheduled preventive maintenance. You will be part of a dynamic team that values Indigenous employment and development, with a strong focus on providing excellent guest experiences.

The lodge is nestled in the heart of Kakadu National Park, offering a unique and culturally rich work environment. As a member of the maintenance team, you will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team, interacting with guests and other staff members to ensure that all aspects of the resort are running efficiently.

What You Will Do

  • Perform daily checks and minor repairs on facilities and equipment, such as fixing leaking taps and replacing lightbulbs
  • Maintain guest facilities, including cleaning and inspecting air conditioning filters and pool filters
  • Support scheduled preventive maintenance, including servicing generators and inspecting roofing and water heaters
  • Conduct pest and termite inspections to ensure the resort's facilities are well-maintained
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure that all aspects of the resort are running smoothly
  • Participate in training and development programs to improve your skills and knowledge
  • Use digital tools to report and track maintenance tasks and issues
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing your time efficiently
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with guests and other staff members

What We Are Looking For

  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repair
  • Reliable, committed, and adaptable, with the ability to multitask and manage your time effectively
  • Good interpersonal skills, integrity, and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction and safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving common goals
  • Basic knowledge of digital tools and systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant certifications or training in maintenance or a related field
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, with the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a hospitality or tourism environment, with a focus on providing excellent guest experiences
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, with a commitment to reconciliation and diversity
