About the Role
The Head of Brand Marketing at Cohere will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's brand strategy, narrative, and verbal identity. This senior creative and strategic role requires a strong understanding of what makes a brand compelling and how to communicate its value proposition effectively. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is passionate about building great products and serving customers.As the senior leader most responsible for how Cohere shows up in the world, you will be expected to set the brand strategy, own the master narrative, and sharpen the company's positioning at the cultural and emotional level. Your work will be visible in various aspects of the company, from product launches to executive communications, recruiting, sales decks, and partner work.
You will work closely with the Design Director and the Editorial Director to ensure that all external-facing content is consistent with the company's brand identity and messaging.
What You Will Do
- Set the brand strategy: who Cohere is, what it stands for, and what it won't be
- Own Cohere's master narrative and make sure every surface ladders up to it without flattening into sameness
- Sharpen the company's positioning at the cultural and emotional level
- Develop the verbal identity framework: the voice and tone strategy, copy systems, naming conventions, and the brand book
- Partner with the Design Director to ensure visual identity aligns with the brand strategy
- Collaborate with the Editorial Director to execute the brand's voice in long-form published work
- Drive the cultural point of view and ensure it is reflected in all aspects of the company's external-facing content
- Set the vision and brief for all brand-related projects
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency across all channels
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in brand marketing
What We Are Looking For

- Experience in great creative environments: culture-forward consumer brands, world-class agencies, magazines, design studios, record labels, fashion houses, or museums
- Understanding of how to translate complex AI products into something a human being can feel something about
- Strong communication and partnership skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment without losing your taste
- Passion for reading widely: design, fashion, music, film, architecture, fiction, technology
- Strong understanding of brand strategy, narrative, and verbal identity
