About the Role

The Head of Communications at Marie Curie UK plays a vital role in developing and implementing the organization's external communications strategy. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for embedding the corporate identity and reputation across various stakeholders, including the public, media, and regulatory bodies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure aligned messaging and effective communication. You will also be required to lead the communications team, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of external communications plans.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, implement, and manage external communications plans that align with the organizational strategy and values
  • Collaborate with the Director of Corporate and Strategic Communications and the Head of PR and Media to lead crisis communications and response plans
  • Lead, guide, and develop the communications team to ensure effective delivery of external communications plans
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure aligned messaging and effective communication
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including media, regulatory bodies, and external partners
  • Manage and coordinate the development of communications materials, including press releases, media briefings, and social media content
  • Provide strategic communications advice and support to senior leaders and teams across the organization
  • Develop and manage budgets for external communications plans and activities
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of external communications plans, making adjustments as needed
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and developments in communications and media

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in a similar role, creating and delivering organization-wide communication plans that support business objectives
  • Strong track record of leading on major communication campaigns, including change communications
  • Experience managing, leading, and developing a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships and influence across all levels
  • Strong project management skills, with experience aligning and managing campaigns, projects, and products to organizational objectives
  • Experience working in a complex organization, bringing together and aligning different departments
  • Strong knowledge of communications principles, practices, and techniques
  • Experience with Adjust and Excel
