About the Role
The Head of Engineering at Lemon.io is a pivotal position, responsible for driving the company's technological transformation and growth. As a key member of the leadership team, you will own the technical roadmap, making critical architecture and prioritization decisions that directly impact the business. Your primary focus will be on leading a growing team of engineers, ensuring that every engineering effort is aligned with business objectives, and driving the speed and quality of what the company ships.The role is deeply involved in product decisions, working closely with the founder and product team to define what success looks like before writing a single line of code. Your expertise in modern stacks, AI/ML tooling, and experience in distributed, async-first teams will be invaluable in tackling the hard, multi-layered problems that Lemon.io is solving.
As a product-minded, business-first leader, you will be responsible for building an engineering culture that values high ownership, high speed, and low bureaucracy. Your ability to make hard prioritization calls, decide what to build and what to skip, and figure out where the real leverage is will be crucial to the company's success.
What You Will Do
- Own the technical roadmap and ensure every engineering effort maps directly to business impact
- Lead and grow an engineering team that ships fast, iterates constantly, and treats complexity as a cost
- Tackle the hard, multi-layered problem of automated vetting, intelligent matching at scale, and demand-side bottlenecks
- Make hard prioritization calls and decide what to build, what to skip, and what to kill
- Work directly with the founder and product team to define what success looks like before writing a single line of code
- Build the engineering culture: high ownership, high speed, low bureaucracy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes through technology
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy, aligning with company goals and objectives
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning
What We Are Looking For
- Experience leading engineering teams (5-30+ people) at a startup or high-growth company
- Hands-on experience with modern stacks and comfort with AI/ML tooling
- Experience working in a distributed, async-first team
- Product-minded, business-first approach to engineering
- First principles thinker with a bias toward action
- Ability to make hard prioritization calls and drive business impact through technology
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, patterns, and practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
