Job Description
About the Role
As the Head of Engineering at Lemon.io, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision and strategy of the company. You will lead a growing team of engineers, making critical architecture and prioritization decisions, and be directly accountable for the speed and quality of what we ship. This is a hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of the company's goals and the ability to work closely with the founder and product team.The role entails day-to-day management of the engineering team, including planning, execution, and delivery of projects. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing team, driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and ensuring that the team is aligned with the company's overall vision and goals.
As the Head of Engineering, you will be part of the company's leadership team and will report directly to the founder. You will work closely with the product team to define the company's technical roadmap and ensure that the engineering team is equipped to deliver on that vision.
What You Will Do
- Own the technical roadmap and ensure that every engineering effort maps directly to business impact
- Lead and grow an engineering team that ships fast, iterates constantly, and treats complexity as a cost
- Tackle the hard, multi-layered problem of automated vetting and intelligent matching at scale
- Make hard prioritization calls and decide what we build, what we skip, and what we kill
- Work directly with the founder and product team to define what success looks like before writing a single line of code
- Build the engineering culture: high ownership, high speed, low bureaucracy
- Collaborate with the product team to define the company's technical vision and strategy
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's goals and the ability to align the engineering team with those goals
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and develop strategies to address them
- Develop and manage the engineering budget and ensure that the team is equipped with the necessary resources to deliver on the company's vision
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams at a startup or high-growth company
- Hands-on experience with modern stacks and comfort with AI/ML tooling
- Experience working in a distributed, async-first team
- Strong understanding of the company's goals and the ability to align the engineering team with those goals
- Experience with automated vetting and intelligent matching at scale
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain a high-performing team
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with the founder and product team
- Experience with driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical problems
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and microservices architecture
- Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Experience with agile development methodologies and lean software development
