About the Role
As the Head of Engineering at Lemon.io, you will be responsible for driving the technical transformation of the company. This involves owning the technical roadmap, making critical architecture and prioritization decisions, and being directly accountable for the speed and quality of what the team ships. You will lead a growing team of engineers, working closely with the founder and product team to define what success looks like before writing a single line of code.The role is pivotal in ensuring that every engineering effort maps directly to business impact, with a focus on simplicity, speed, and low bureaucracy. You will be expected to tackle hard, multi-layered problems such as automated vetting, intelligent matching at scale, and demand-side bottlenecks.

What You Will Do
- Own the technical roadmap and ensure that every engineering effort maps directly to business impact
- Lead and grow a team of engineers, with a focus on high ownership, high speed, and low bureaucracy
- Make critical architecture and prioritization decisions, with a focus on simplicity and speed
- Work closely with the founder and product team to define what success looks like before writing a single line of code
- Tackle hard, multi-layered problems such as automated vetting, intelligent matching at scale, and demand-side bottlenecks
- Build and maintain a culture of high ownership, high speed, and low bureaucracy within the engineering team
- Make hard prioritization calls, deciding what to build, what to skip, and what to kill
- Work directly with the founder to define the technical vision and strategy for the company
- Ensure that the engineering team is empowered to make decisions and take action quickly
- Collaborate with other teams, such as product and design, to ensure that the technical roadmap aligns with business goals
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, preferably in a startup or high-growth company
- Hands-on experience with modern stacks and AI/ML tooling
- Experience working in a distributed, async-first team
- Strong focus on simplicity, speed, and low bureaucracy
- Product-minded, business-first approach to engineering
- Experience with automated vetting, intelligent matching at scale, and demand-side bottlenecks
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain a high-performing team
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and containerization
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience with security auditing
- Experience with data analytics and data science tools
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment
