## About the Role As the Head of Engineering at Particula, you will be responsible for leading the engineering team and driving the technical vision of the company. This is a leadership role that requires a unique blend of people management, product delivery, and infrastructure excellence. You will work closely with the CTO and Head of AI to translate the company's technical vision into reliable, scalable systems. The engineering team is at the heart of Particula's operations, and as the leader of this team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's future.
The role entails managing the day-to-day operations of the engineering team, including running 1:1s, driving execution, and building a high-performing team culture. You will also be responsible for stabilizing and scaling the company's core infrastructure, establishing engineering discipline, and growing the team's velocity and output. This is a challenging but rewarding role that requires a deep understanding of software engineering, leadership, and infrastructure management.

## What You Will Do - Own and manage the engineering team, including running 1:1s, managing performance, and driving accountability - Stabilize and scale the company's core infrastructure, including identifying and resolving critical gaps in existing systems - Establish engineering standards and build toward a resilient, production-grade architecture - Drive delivery, including translating product and business priorities into clear engineering roadmaps and sprint structures - Coordinate with the Head of AI to ensure smooth integration between the AI pipeline and the broader platform infrastructure - Build engineering culture, including introducing the right processes and minimizing bureaucracy - Hire and grow the team, including owning recruiting, onboarding, and team composition decisions - Represent engineering in leadership discussions, including bridging the gap between technical reality and business expectations - Manage and grow the team's velocity and output, including driving execution and removing roadblocks - Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy that aligns with the company's overall vision and goals
## What We Are Looking For - 7-12 years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in an engineering leadership role - Proven track record of managing and growing small-to-mid-size engineering teams in a fast-moving startup environment - Strong full-stack understanding, including backend systems, frontend delivery, cloud infrastructure, and API design - Experience inheriting and stabilizing broken or scaling infrastructure, not just greenfield builds - Excellent people management skills, including giving direct feedback and creating clarity in ambiguous environments - Strong communicator, able to translate between vision and execution fluently - Highly structured and process-oriented, but pragmatic and able to ship and improve - Entrepreneurial by nature, able to build, own, and drive - Familiarity with data-heavy platforms, analytics infrastructure, or financial/fintech products is a plus - Exposure to blockchain or Web3 infrastructure is a plus
## Nice to Have - Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools - Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems - Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment
