About the Role
The Head of Engineering at Pavago is a highly technical and hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of backend engineering, distributed systems architecture, and AI infrastructure. As the leader of the engineering function, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of scalable backend systems, managing AI-powered workflows, and guiding a lean engineering team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-moving startup environment, taking ownership of systems end-to-end and balancing rapid product development with long-term scalability and reliability.The engineering team at Pavago is responsible for developing and maintaining a fast-growing SaaS platform that operates across multiple services and AI-powered workflows. As the Head of Engineering, you will be working closely with the leadership team to define the technical roadmap and ensure that the engineering function is aligned with the company's overall goals.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using .NET 8.0, C#, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework Core
- Own system architecture across 14+ independently deployed microservices
- Implement Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
- Deliver new product features, optimize existing systems, and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Improve system scalability, maintainability, and engineering standards across the codebase
- Design and manage production-grade AI and LLM pipelines across multiple providers
- Build scalable workflows for personalization, segmentation, automation, and AI-assisted features
- Optimize prompts, orchestration logic, failover systems, and provider routing strategies
- Monitor token usage, rate limits, latency, and cost efficiency across AI systems
- Integrate AI-assisted development workflows and tooling into engineering operations
What We Are Looking For
- Deep expertise in .NET 8.0, C#, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework Core
- Experience with distributed systems architecture and AI infrastructure
- Strong understanding of Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization using Docker
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience with security frameworks such as OWASP
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
