About the Role
The Head of Finance & Strategy will own the financial management of the business, leading strategic planning and bridging the gap between the company's current state and its future aspirations. This role is crucial in driving the company's growth, preparing for a Series B raise, and developing pricing, partnership, and commissioning models.As a key member of the team, the Head of Finance & Strategy will work closely with the founding team, which has backgrounds in healthcare, product, and clinical science. The company is committed to connecting patients with specialist mental health professionals across the UK, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in achieving this mission.
The role is based in the UK, with the option to work remotely and attend monthly in-person meetings in London. The company values flexibility and work-life balance, offering a range of benefits to support its employees' well-being.
What You Will Do
- Own financial planning and analysis, including monthly management accounts, rolling forecasts, unit economics, and cash runway modeling
- Lead Series B preparation, building the investor financial model, preparing data room materials, and supporting the CEO through the fundraising process
- Drive the annual strategic planning cycle, ensuring financial plans are grounded in a coherent strategic view of the market
- Develop pricing, partnership, and commissioning models as the business expands into new NHS and employer channels
- Build out the finance function over time, initially managing a part-time FP&A analyst
- Lead the development of the company's financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Identify areas for cost savings and process improvements, implementing changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Collaborate with the founding team to develop and implement business strategies, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and goals
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to drive business growth and improvement
What We Are Looking For
- 6-10 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or a senior FP&A or strategy role within a venture-backed business
- Strong financial modeling skills, with the ability to build company models, investor returns analyses, and unit economics frameworks from scratch
- Experience supporting or leading an equity fundraise, with a strong understanding of the fundraising process
- Commercially curious, with the ability to connect financial performance to strategic questions and market dynamics
- Genuine interest in healthcare, mental health, or digital health, with a passion for making a positive impact
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and draw meaningful insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing circumstances
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the healthcare or digital health sector, with a strong understanding of the industry and its trends
- Knowledge of financial planning and analysis software, such as Excel, Google Sheets, or financial planning tools
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
