The Head of Product, Payroll is a pivotal role at Gusto, overseeing the development and implementation of the company's core payroll product. This position requires a seasoned product leader who can drive strategy, roadmap, and business performance for the payroll product line. As a key member of Gusto's product leadership team, you will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer experiences.Gusto's payroll product is used by over 400,000 small businesses, making it a critical component of the company's success. As the Head of Product, Payroll, you will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the payroll and HR tech industries, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. What You Will Do
- Develop and execute the product strategy for Gusto's payroll product line, aligning with the company's overall mission and goals
- Lead and manage a team of product managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure their success
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and marketing, to deliver high-quality products and experiences
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the payroll and HR tech industries
- Define and prioritize product roadmaps, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in
- Develop and manage business cases for new product initiatives, ensuring they meet business objectives and customer needs
- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the development of new ideas and solutions
- Work closely with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback and insights, using this information to inform product decisions
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans to support product initiatives
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on payroll, HR tech, or related industries
- Proven track record of success in leading high-performing teams and driving business growth
- Strong expertise in GTM strategies, product roadmapping, and business development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and inform product decisions
- Experience with agile development methodologies and lean product development principles
- Strong customer focus, with a deep understanding of the needs and pain points of small businesses
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, computer science, or engineering
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-powered tools and technologies, and their application in payroll and HR tech
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance issues in the payroll industry
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
