Job Description
About the Role
The Health Systems Oncology Medical Affairs Director plays a critical role in developing and maintaining professional relationships with key decision-makers in organized health systems. This expert will provide accurate and balanced information on MSD's oncology product portfolio, clinical science, and quality management, ensuring that healthcare professionals have the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. As a member of the Medical Affairs team, this individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve patient outcomes.The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complexities of the healthcare system, including the challenges and opportunities presented by value-based care. They will be able to navigate the intricate web of relationships between payers, providers, and pharmaceutical companies, and will be skilled at communicating complex scientific information in a clear and concise manner.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute strategic account plans in partnership with Integrated Account Management teams
- Build and maintain professional relationships with key decision-makers in organized health systems
- Provide accurate and balanced information on MSD's oncology product portfolio, clinical science, and quality management
- Serve as a resource for the Medical Affairs management team on strategic planning and provide mentoring for other team members
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of market dynamics and decision-makers' evolving information needs
- Communicate and coordinate with Regional Medical Scientific Directors regarding medical and scientific support needs
- Attend and support scientific and medical meetings, and prepare post-meeting deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve patient outcomes
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in oncology, medical affairs, and healthcare delivery
What We Are Looking For
- MD, PhD, or PharmD degree
- Minimum 3 years of dedicated experience in a field-based Medical Affairs role, or 5 years of clinical oncology experience
- Experience working with organized healthcare systems or payer organizations
- Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, healthcare delivery system structure and function, pharmacoeconomics, disease management, quality management, and healthcare delivery policy and trends
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to network, strong personal integrity, collaborative mindset, and a strong customer focus
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment
- Demonstrable project leadership abilities
Nice to Have
- Field-based medical experience working with regional and/or national payers, integrated delivery systems, or scientific leaders
- Formal training in health economics and/or outcomes research
- Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
