## About the Role
The Hematology/Oncology Specialist position at mercor is a remote, contract role that requires a deep understanding of Hematology and Oncology practices. As a specialist, you will be responsible for designing clinically realistic prompts and scenarios, grading AI-generated responses, and providing written feedback to the research team. This role is crucial in enhancing AI model training and ensuring the accuracy of AI-generated responses in the medical field.
The role is part of a larger team working on AI research projects, and as such, collaboration and communication skills are essential. You will be working closely with the research team to ensure that the AI models are trained with high-quality data and that the outputs are accurate and reliable.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from designing prompts and scenarios to grading AI-generated responses. You will also be expected to participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions to ensure consistency and relevance.
## What You Will Do
- Design clinically realistic prompts and scenarios from your Hematology/Oncology practice, including staging, treatment selection, and toxicity management
- Write 'golden' reference responses at attending-level quality to enhance AI model training
- Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics to ensure alignment with evidence-based standards
- Provide written feedback to the research team to improve model behavior and training data quality
- Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions to ensure consistency and relevance
- Collaborate with the research team to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for enhancing AI model performance
- Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated responses
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Hematology/Oncology and AI research, and apply this knowledge to improve AI model training and performance
## What We Are Looking For
- Board-certified attending physicians with current, active, unrestricted medical licenses
- Resident physicians in their final year of residency or recent graduates who are board-eligible
- Fellows who are board-certified or board-eligible in their primary specialty with current, active, unrestricted medical licenses
- Strong foundation in Hematology/Oncology, with a deep understanding of staging, treatment selection, and toxicity management
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise feedback
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics
## Nice to Have
- Experience working with AI models and machine learning algorithms
- Familiarity with medical informatics and healthcare IT systems
- Experience with quality control processes and quality improvement initiatives
