About the Role
The High School Social Studies Teacher position at Stride, Inc. is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students through online education. As a state-certified educator, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and personalized learning experiences to high school students. This role is part of the Carolus Online Academy, which aims to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students.The ideal candidate will have a passion for social studies and a commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with students, parents, and the school administration to ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work independently from home, with occasional travel for school functions and professional development.
What You Will Do
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
- Commit to personalizing learning for all students, believing in their ability to succeed and meet high expectations
- Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery
- Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools
- Maintain a grade book to ensure student academic integrity, making student placement and promotion decisions, and alerting administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, regularly communicating with and responding to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
- Support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment
- Travel as required for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and as needed by the school
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Active state teaching license (South Carolina Department of Education High School Social Studies Teaching Certification)
- Ability to clear a required background check
- Experience working with the proposed age group (high school students)
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment
- Familiarity with online learning platforms
Nice to Have
- Experience with Excel for data management and analysis
- Knowledge of learning management systems and educational software
- Certification in a related field, such as special education or English as a second language
