Job Description

About the Role

The HR Partner role at Campus Compact is a pivotal position that supports the development of a strong, values-aligned organizational culture across a fully remote team. As the organization prepares for significant growth and expansion, this role will be critical in building shared practices that enable staff and leadership to work through complexity, strengthen collaboration, and navigate organizational dynamics effectively. The successful candidate will be part of a team that prioritizes navigating tension productively, engaging in constructive conflict, and understanding positional power within the organization.

The role of the HR Partner is to provide strategic support to the leadership team and staff, ensuring that the organization's values are embedded in all aspects of its operations. This includes developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the organization's goals, managing HR operations, and providing guidance on best practices for remote team management. The HR Partner will also play a key role in fostering a culture of open communication, transparency, and accountability, where all staff members feel valued and supported.

Campus Compact operates with a fully remote workforce of approximately 45 staff members located across the United States. The organization's leadership structure includes five executive team members, as well as a leadership team made up of an additional six directors. The HR Partner will work closely with the leadership team to ensure that HR strategies are aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization's goals and values
  • Provide strategic support to the leadership team and staff on HR-related matters
  • Manage HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
  • Develop and implement training programs to support staff development and growth
  • Foster a culture of open communication, transparency, and accountability
  • Provide guidance on best practices for remote team management
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support the organization's values and goals
  • Manage employee communications and ensure that all staff members are informed and engaged
  • Develop and manage the organization's budget for HR-related activities

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of five years of experience in HR, preferably in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices, including employment law and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff and leadership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Experience with HR software and systems, including HRIS and performance management tools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a non-profit or education sector environment
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices
  • Experience with conflict resolution and mediation
  • Certification in HR, such as SHRM-CP or PHR
  • Experience with remote team management and virtual communication tools
