About the Role
The HSE Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that Recurrent Energy's North America operations adhere to the highest safety standards. As a key member of the team, you will provide expertise on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs, plans, and risk registers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting site visits, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement.As an HSE Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic team that values proactive approaches to safety management. Your input will be instrumental in shaping the company's safety culture, and your expertise will help drive business decisions that prioritize the well-being of employees, contractors, and the environment.
Reporting to the senior management team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the organization, influencing safety policies and procedures that align with Recurrent Energy's strategic objectives.
What You Will Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain OHS programs, plans, and risk registers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Conduct site visits to monitor and assess safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for corrective action
- Analyze data and trends to identify potential safety hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution
- Provide training and guidance to employees and contractors on safety procedures and protocols
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices
- Participate in incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Develop and manage safety budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support safety initiatives
- Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring Recurrent Energy's operations remain compliant
What We Are Looking For
- At least 3-5 years of experience in an equivalent HSE role within the construction, civil, or environmental remediation sectors
- College diploma or university degree in an OHS or related field from an accredited Canadian, US, or international program
- CRSP or CMIOSH designations are considered assets
- Working knowledge and experience with ISNetWorld (applicable to US staff only)
- OSHA 30-hour training required, with OSHA 510 preferred or regional equivalent
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with safety management software and systems
- Knowledge of Canadian and US safety regulations and standards
- Familiarity with renewable energy projects and operations
