About the Role
The HVDC Commissioning Lead Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering complex HVDC projects, ensuring that all commissioning activities are executed efficiently and safely. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, as well as excellent project management and leadership skills. As a key member of the commissioning team, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with customer representatives, managing site teams, and ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with GE Vernova's quality, construction, and commissioning guidelines.The role will involve working on construction sites in Europe and Asia, requiring flexibility and a willingness to travel. The commissioning lead engineer will report to the Regional Commissioning Team Leader and will work closely with the Commissioning Manager to ensure that all projects are completed to the highest standards.
What You Will Do
- Prepare commissioning documentation, including programs, procedures, and checklists
- Manage and coordinate commissioning activities on site, including testing and execution of commissioning plans
- Liaise with design offices and project management teams to ensure timely issuance of data required for site works
- Coordinate with customer representatives to ensure client compliance and satisfaction
- Manage and lead international teams of commissioning engineers
- Report regularly to the Site Commissioning Manager on site progress and issues
- Follow up daily commissioning activities on site and be the first point of contact for on-site commissioning scope
- Schedule, prepare staffing plans, manage site team mobilization, and track actuals versus plan, including budget and costs
- Publish test reports and follow up on completion of relevant quality documentation
- Comply with contract requirements and the project Quality Plan
- Monitor, record, and report on work progress, ensuring that all testing and commissioning activities are performed in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a comparable qualification
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in commissioning management, preferably in HVDC or large substation projects
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Leader or Lead Commissioning Engineer
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and commissioning processes
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in international teams and communicate with customers and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel and work on construction sites in Europe and Asia
