About the Role
Longship Marketing is seeking a highly skilled Illustrator Graphic Designer to join their team. As a key member of the creative team, you will be responsible for developing high-quality visual content across various platforms. This includes creating static and animated visuals for Meta ads, website banners, and campaign assets, as well as designing imagery and graphics that drive sales on-site. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with the CEO on both recurring creative needs and special projects, ensuring a varied and challenging workload.The role is part of a remote-first agency that operates asynchronously, with a focus on ownership and minimal oversight. This approach allows for greater flexibility and autonomy, with more emphasis on Slack and Loom communication than traditional meetings. As a hands-on team, every hire has real visibility into the work and direct access to decision-makers, including the CEO.
What You Will Do
- Develop ad creative and banners, including static and animated visuals for Meta ads and website banners
- Design website and product graphics that drive sales and engagement
- Create merchandise and print-on-demand graphics, including t-shirt and apparel designs
- Collaborate with the CEO and other team members on recurring creative needs and special projects
- Utilize AI tools to rapidly develop design concepts and drafts
- Refine and polish designs using manual graphic design tools such as Adobe and Figma
- Produce high-quality designs that meet commercial standards and are optimized for various platforms
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies, including AI-assisted design tools
- Participate in the development of the company's visual identity and brand guidelines
- Work closely with the team to ensure consistent design quality across all projects
What We Are Looking For
- A strong commercial portfolio showcasing illustration and design work for real brands or products
- Genuine comfort in at least one of the following themes: children's products, sports/motivation, or fantasy/sci-fi
- Proficiency in Figma as a daily tool, with working knowledge of Illustrator/Photoshop for production tasks
- Experience producing designs for both print and digital platforms, including basic color-profile awareness (RGB vs. CMYK)
- An active, hands-on interest in AI-assisted drafts and iteration
- Comfort working asynchronously in a remote environment, with excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on ownership and accountability
- Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, and composition
Nice to Have
- Experience across two or more of the company's thematic areas (children's products, sports/motivation, fantasy/sci-fi)
- Print-on-demand, apparel, or greeting card production experience
- Familiarity with Shopify or WordPress content workflows
- Basic motion or mockup presentation skills
