Job Description

About the Role

Mentor Technical Group is seeking an experienced Insulation Technician to join their team. As an Insulation Technician, you will be responsible for applying insulating materials to pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation of our clients' facilities and requires a strong understanding of insulation materials, methods of installation, and safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a high school vocational diploma and at least 10 years of experience in the trade. You will be working closely with our team of technical experts to ensure that all installations meet the required standards and regulations.

What You Will Do

  • Apply insulating materials to pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems
  • Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
  • Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required
  • Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use
  • Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage
  • Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and safe installation of insulation materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor or manager

What We Are Looking For

  • High school vocational diploma with 10+ years of experience in the trade
  • Strong understanding of insulation materials, methods of installation, and safety protocols
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of weather conditions
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with a variety of insulation materials, including fiberglass, foam board, and reflective insulation
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations regarding insulation installation
  • Certification in a related trade, such as HVAC or plumbing
