About the Role
The intermediate gameplay software engineer role at Blackbird Interactive is a unique opportunity to work on building DLC content for an established AAA universe. This role is focused on creating new content and story progression tied to sci-fi themes, which will require close collaboration with designers, artists, and animators. What You Will Do
- Implement quest mechanics, gameplay systems, and progression features in close collaboration with designers, artists, and animators
- Own work from prototype through ship, ensuring that the final product meets the company's high standards
- Collaborate with the design team to create new content and story progression tied to sci-fi themes
- Work closely with the art team to ensure that gameplay mechanics are visually stunning and engaging
- Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and well-documented code
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the development process
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in game development technologies
- Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning and retrospectives
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on gameplay engineering
- Strong understanding of game development principles and a passion for creating engaging player experiences
- Experience working with proprietary game engines and technologies
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment
