About the Role
The American Heart Association is seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Health Intern to join their National Community Health Team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to support community health initiatives and contribute to the development of strategies that improve health outcomes in communities. What You Will Do
- Enhance community impact work by researching evidence-based strategies that support health priority areas
- Identify, review, and develop resources that meet community health needs
- Assemble a catalogue of vetted resources developed across market teams
- Support day-to-day management of internal communications channels
- Assist with maintaining SharePoint sites to ensure content is current, relevant, and well-organized
- Support community impact storytelling and develop communication pieces for online or offline sharing
- Assist with compiling data for monthly health strategies reports
- Identify local indicators for priority health measures and show trend over time in communities of interest
- Support the Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Health initiative community workstream team
- Participate in team meetings and record next steps and action items
- Assist with planning and coordinating activities for local networking events
- Draft content outlines for community resources and edit materials
- Research and compile listings of local community resources

- Current college student with a strong interest in public health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Excel and able to learn new software quickly
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for community health and public service
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Nice to Have
- Experience with SharePoint or similar content management systems
- Familiarity with community health initiatives and public health principles
