About the Role
The Internal Audit IT Manager role at Coinbase is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen. As a key member of the Internal Audit team, you will be responsible for managing IT audits and security operations across the company's cloud infrastructure, security operations, and crypto-native systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management. The role requires a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, security operations, and AI-enabled workflows, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.The Internal Audit team at Coinbase is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires individuals who are adaptable, collaborative, and willing to learn. As a remote-first company, Coinbase offers a flexible work environment that allows employees to work from anywhere in the world. However, in-person participation is required throughout the year, and team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration and connection.
What You Will Do
- Own end-to-end delivery of complex IT and security audits across cloud infrastructure, security operations, and crypto-native systems
- Drive AI-enabled audit execution, designing and implementing data analytics, automation, and Generative AI solutions
- Execute audits aligned with the multi-year IT and security audit roadmap, coordinating coverage with co-sourced partners and cross-functional risk initiatives
- Drive high-quality, risk-based findings and executive-level reporting, distilling key themes, emerging risks, and root causes into clear, concise materials
- Partner with technology and security leadership across Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Product, and Operations to build trusted relationships and advise on pragmatic, risk-based, scalable remediation
- Drive disciplined issue management, ensuring timely, risk-based remediation by management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management
- Develop and maintain relationships with external audit partners and regulatory bodies
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies
- Participate in company-wide offsites and team meetings to foster collaboration and connection
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in IT audit, security operations, or a related field
- Strong technical skills in cloud infrastructure, security operations, and AI-enabled workflows
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry trends
- Experience with data analytics, automation, and Generative AI solutions
- Certification in IT audit or a related field (e.g. CISA, CISSP)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience working in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Nice to Have
- Experience working with blockchain infrastructure, centralized and self-hosted wallets, and cold storage
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing
- Certification in cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP)
- Experience working with agile development methodologies
- Strong understanding of cryptographic principles and protocols
