Job Description

About the Role

Monzo is seeking an experienced International Public Policy Senior Manager to lead its international policy strategy and government relations engagement. As a key member of the Public Policy squad, you will be responsible for devising the team's international strategy and priorities as the business expands in new territories. You will work closely with teams across the company to establish Monzo's presence in the EU and expand its offering to US consumers.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of financial inclusion, vulnerability, and tech policy, as well as experience in managing government relations and international policy. You will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about making money work for everyone.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement Monzo's international policy strategy and government relations engagement plan
  • Coordinate input from across the business and brief Board and senior management on policy challenges and opportunities
  • Maintain and develop key relationships with external policy makers, industry groups, consumer groups, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
  • Help build Monzo's expertise and views on a range of policy and social impact issues
  • Advocate for change that helps Monzo achieve its mission
  • Work with internal product teams to build features and services that enhance Monzo's mission
  • Coordinate and write formal responses to relevant consultations and other requests
  • Partner with international trade and consumer organisations that share Monzo's aims
  • Help devise the team's international strategy and priorities as the business expands in new territories

What We Are Looking For

  • Significant international policy experience
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Ability to enthusiastically engage with team, Collective, or discipline-level initiatives
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead the resolution of issues related to your work or area of expertise
  • Experience in managing government relations and international policy
  • Ability to contribute to the wider team or domain meeting goals through successfully leading and consistently delivering on challenging projects

  • Ability to sponsor, mentor, and provide constructive, candid feedback to others
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
