About the Role
The Investment Analyst position at 16VC is a key component in the firm's investment platform, focusing on identifying and analyzing potential startup investment opportunities. This role will involve developing relationships with founders, operators, and other stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, as well as conducting in-depth research and analysis on emerging industries and technologies. What You Will Do
- Build relationships with founders, operators, investors, accelerators, and startup communities globally
- Source high-quality startup investment opportunities
- Develop and manage outbound sourcing strategies
- Represent 16VC within startup ecosystems and industry events
- Research emerging industries, technology trends, and investment opportunities
- Develop investment theses across priority sectors
- Evaluate startups, founders, products, markets, and business models
- Conduct market mapping and competitive analysis
- Prepare investment memos and recommendations
- Help establish and refine 16VC's investment processes
- Build sourcing, diligence, and pipeline management frameworks
- Contribute to fellowship and founder engagement initiatives
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of venture capital experience
- Experience working with an institutional VC fund, accelerator, family office, angel network, or investment platform
- Strong understanding of startup ecosystems and venture investing
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Strong network-building and relationship-management abilities
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment
- Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R
- Familiarity with startup accelerators and incubators
- International experience or language skills
