About the Role
The IT Demand and Portfolio Specialist plays a critical role in the Information Technology department at St. Charles Health System, overseeing the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of technology-related requests across the organization. This role is essential for ensuring that proposed initiatives align with strategic priorities, operational objectives, and available resource capacity. The specialist will work closely with business and IT leaders to facilitate decision-making and drive the delivery of IT services, enhancements, and projects.As part of the IT team, the specialist will be responsible for establishing intake standards, maintaining visibility into the demand pipeline, and supporting portfolio decisions. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The IT Demand and Portfolio Specialist will report to the IT Manager Customer Experience and will be part of a team that values accountability, caring, and teamwork.
What You Will Do
- Facilitate the IT demand management process, capturing, evaluating, and prioritizing incoming requests from business units
- Establish and enforce intake standards for efficient routing and decision-making
- Develop, maintain, and communicate dashboards and reporting for transparent visibility into demand intake, prioritization, status, and pipeline performance
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to organize business cases and determine the appropriate path for each request
- Ensure business cases are complete and decision-ready by coordinating required inputs
- Facilitate cross-functional assessment of regulatory, security, technical, and operational risks associated with new demands
- Monitor the demand intake lifecycle to ensure requests progress efficiently
- Coordinate the assignment and tracking of non-project work to the appropriate operational pathways
- Govern the demand pipeline to ensure initiatives are prioritized and sequenced in alignment with strategic objectives
- Define, implement, and continuously refine prioritization criteria and governance practices
- Partner with the PMO to track active portfolio health and ensure approved demands deliver their intended strategic value

- Proficiency in Excel and Adjust
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong understanding of IT principles, technologies, and trends
- Experience in a healthcare or similar industry is an asset
