Job Description

About the Role

The IT Project Leader position at Guidehouse is a critical role that involves leading digital projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role is part of the IT Enablement and Strategy team, which partners with various business functions to develop and implement technology solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

As an IT Project Leader, you will be responsible for balancing direct leadership for strategic, high-risk projects with indirect leadership for more tactical, lower-risk projects. This will involve coaching team members, providing guidance, and ensuring that all projects are delivered successfully. You will also be required to lead and coordinate IT projects across different business functions, application portfolios, and technical disciplines, including modern development, AI, data, cloud, IT operations, and security.

The role requires a consultative mindset, with strong advisory and problem-solving skills. You will need to be able to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate clearly, and drive project delivery outcomes. If you have a passion for digital transformation, a proven track record of project delivery, and excellent leadership skills, this could be the ideal role for you.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coordinate IT projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring scope, timeline, quality, and stakeholder expectations are met
  • Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, schedules, risks, dependencies, and issue resolution plans
  • Facilitate project onboarding and offboarding, regular project meetings, status updates, change management, and communication to keep stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts to identify issues, implement corrective actions, and improve project delivery outcomes
  • Track progress, manage scope, document decisions, and maintain accurate project artifacts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality expectations and business priorities
  • Lead cross-functional teams across business functions, application portfolios, modern development, AI and data, cloud, IT operations, and 3rd party vendors
  • Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, and develop mitigation plans as needed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and meeting minutes

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information technology, or business administration
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in IT project management, or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience leading IT projects and/or coordinating complex technical initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and issue resolution
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and dependencies simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain project documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work independently while driving collaboration and accountability across teams

Nice to Have

  • Project management certification, such as PMP, CAPM, or Agile credentials, such as SAFe
  • Familiarity with modern portfolio, program, and project management tools and methodologies
  • Experience supporting process improvement or operational efficiency initiatives
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale IT programs or transformation projects

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Flexible benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Personal and family sick time, and company-paid holidays
  • Parental leave and adoption assistance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
