About the Role
The IT Systems Engineer role at Anthropic is a critical position that requires expertise in managing and securing complex IT systems. As a member of the Endpoint team, you will be responsible for treating Anthropic's device fleet as a distributed platform, managing every piece of device configuration as code, and ensuring the security and integrity of the company's AI systems. This role sits at the intersection of security and developer experience, requiring collaboration with Security teams, developer teams, and infrastructure teams.The Endpoint team at Anthropic is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. As an IT Systems Engineer, you will own the platform end-to-end, including the infrastructure underneath the MDM, the configuration on top of it, and the patching and software pipelines that keep thousands of devices patched and secure.
What You Will Do
- Own endpoint configuration as code: author, review, test, and progressively roll out MDM policies, configuration profiles, and remediation scripts across macOS, Windows, and mobile
- Operate the MDM platform itself as a production service, including infrastructure as code, observability, upgrades, and incident response
- Build patch management automation with rapid enforcement timelines while maintaining good user experience
- Design zero touch provisioning that turns a sealed box into a productive machine on day one
- Run software distribution for the fleet, including managed app distribution for mobile devices
- Turn fleet telemetry into policy, dashboards, and early drift warnings, and build automation with Claude that removes operational toil
- Partner with Corporate Security on endpoint hardening, binary authorization, and compliance controls
- Serve as the deep escalation tier for endpoint issues IT Operations can’t resolve
- Help define the endpoint roadmap and make architecture decisions
- Own the platform every Anthropic employee’s work runs on
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience building secure IT systems in complex environments
- Experience managing endpoint fleets of thousands of macOS and Windows devices through a modern MDM
- Strong understanding of endpoint configuration as code and experience with scripted deployments or full GitOps
- In-depth knowledge of one platform (macOS internals or Windows internals) and hands-on experience with the other
- Experience with security and compliance controls, including hardening, binary authorization, and detection and response
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
