About the Role

The pickleball host role is a vital part of the United Fray team, as it requires a unique blend of sports knowledge, communication skills, and community building. You will be the face of the brand, embodying the values of fun, inclusivity, and sportsmanship. If you are a people person who loves pickleball, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The role will involve working closely with the United Fray team to ensure that all events are well-organized and run smoothly. You will be expected to be flexible, adaptable, and able to think on your feet, as every night will be different. With the support of the United Fray team, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills, both on and off the court.

What You Will Do

• Create a fun and energetic experience for all players involved
• Run nightly operations for sports leagues, including setting up equipment and managing game schedules
• Build relationships with players, teams, and other stakeholders to create a sense of community
• Embbody the United Fray brand, promoting the values of fun, inclusivity, and sportsmanship
• Manage and resolve any issues that may arise during events
• Work closely with the United Fray team to ensure that all events are well-organized and run smoothly
• Develop and implement strategies to increase player engagement and retention
• Collaborate with other hosts and staff members to share best practices and ideas
• Provide excellent customer service to all players, responding to queries and resolving issues promptly
• Participate in training and development opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the pickleball industry, applying this knowledge to improve the player experience

What We Are Looking For

• Experience playing, coaching, or reffing pickleball
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and think on your feet
• Positive and adaptable approach to customers and players
• Commitment to the entire season (7-8 weeks), with flexibility on weather
• Ability to work well in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues
• Basic first aid knowledge and ability to respond to emergencies
• Knowledge of pickleball rules and regulations
• Experience working in a customer-facing role, preferably in the sports industry
• Ability to lift and move equipment, as required

Nice to Have

• Experience hosting or managing sports events
• Knowledge of marketing and promotion strategies to attract new players
• Experience working with diverse groups and communities
• Ability to speak multiple languages
• Experience with event planning and management software
