About the Role
The Junior Product Designer position at WealthCounsel, LLC is a foundational role within the company's product design team. As a junior product designer, you will be responsible for designing clear, well-crafted experiences across WealthCounsel's software products. This role entails working closely with the Discovery Trio, which includes Product Managers and Engineers, to contribute to the full design process. From research and discovery to design specifications and implementation support, you will play a vital role in shaping the user experience of WealthCounsel's products.The Junior Product Designer will work within a collaborative environment, participating in design reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional team rituals. This role offers the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of user needs and to cultivate a commitment to craft, with increasing ownership of features and product areas as you grow in the position.

What You Will Do
- Apply structured problem-framing with guidance to articulate the problem a design is solving, not just the solution
- Participate in discovery sessions with the Product Manager and Engineering Lead, contributing a user-centered perspective
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and design documentation that communicate intent and support decision-making
- Learn to distinguish between user requests and underlying user needs
- Design interaction flows, interface layouts, and components in alignment with the design system
- Deliver designs that account for the full spectrum of states, including happy paths, error states, empty states, loading states, and edge cases
- Designs that account for fluid viewport sizes and device types
- Apply design system patterns consistently and contribute to iterative improvement
- Participate in user research activities, such as usability tests, interviews, and discovery sessions, with support from senior designers
- Shadow Support troubleshooting sessions and Member Success training sessions to build a direct understanding of how attorneys use WealthCounsel's products
- Review support tickets and feature requests to identify patterns and develop an understanding of user needs
What We Are Looking For
- 0-3 years of experience in product design, UX design, or a related role
- Portfolio demonstrating user-centered thinking, interaction design craft, and problem-solving across digital products
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent modern design and prototyping tools
- Familiarity with UX research methods
- Ability to apply structured problem-framing with guidance
- Capability to learn and distinguish between user requests and underlying user needs
- Strong design craft skills, with the ability to design interaction flows, interface layouts, and components
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale clearly to Product Managers and Engineers
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team
- Strong user empathy and understanding of user needs
