About the Role

As a Junior Tax Analyst at Hire Hangar, you will play a critical role in supporting day-to-day US tax compliance and reporting operations. You will work closely with a collaborative, fully remote team to ensure accuracy and timeliness in preparing and filing US federal, state, and local tax returns. What You Will Do

  • Prepare and file US federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting schedules with accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual income tax provision process (ASC 740)
  • Research and document tax issues related to compliance, transactions, and regulatory changes under US tax law
  • Support multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including nexus analysis and filing
  • Maintain and reconcile tax-related accounts within the general ledger
  • Assist in responding to tax notices, audits, and information requests from federal and state authorities
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accuracy of tax-related financial data and disclosures
  • Track and monitor changes in US tax legislation that may affect compliance obligations
  • Prepare and review tax-related reports and analyses
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of US federal and multi-state tax laws and regulations

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong working knowledge of US federal and multi-state tax law
  • Hands-on experience with tax return preparation and compliance in a corporate or public accounting setting
  • Familiarity with income tax provision processes (ASC 740) and basic tax accounting concepts
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills with a professional and precise approach
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Prior remote work experience and proficiency with remote collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, or similar)
  • Experience working with US-based companies

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-state nexus and sales tax compliance platforms (e.g., Avalara, TaxJar)
  • Exposure to partnership, S-corp, or international tax matters
  • Experience working within an ERP environment (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Prior involvement in supporting tax audits or regulatory inquiries
