About the Role

The Key Account Executive role at Marqeta is a pivotal position that requires a deep understanding of the company's innovative payment solutions and the ability to cultivate and manage high-level relationships with executives seeking to innovate and disrupt B2B and consumer payments. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about scaling the success of Marqeta's business in Europe and have a proven track record in complex sales and customer relationship management.

As a Key Account Executive, you will be part of a team that focuses on the largest and most impactful commercial opportunities in Marqeta's evolving business. This includes working closely with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance, and Delivery to define solutions that empower customers. Your expertise in understanding Marqeta's technology and how it brings value to the market will be crucial in communicating its benefits and winning the trust of key stakeholders across revenue growth, product, and technology teams of potential partners.

What You Will Do

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with executives seeking to innovate and disrupt B2B and consumer payments
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance, and Delivery to define solutions that empower customers
  • Originate new customer opportunities and respond to inbound opportunities
  • Shepherd deals from the opening through to contract and closing stage
  • Manage the back end of the sales process, including Salesforce rigour and reporting, financial modeling, and garnering internal approvals
  • Qualify leads and prioritize the right opportunities by identifying needs and requirements and responding to requests for information and proposals
  • Run a sales process end to end, from initial engagement to scoping to final contract negotiations
  • Contracting: Work with the Legal team as required to shepherd opportunities through the contracting process, including negotiation and execution
  • Quickly get up to speed on Marqeta's technical and programme management capabilities, unique features, and customer benefits of the platform

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the fintech or payments industry
  • Strong understanding of complex sales and customer relationship management
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical and product benefits to various stakeholders
  • Strong business judgment and sales acumen to vet opportunities and close deals
  • Self-motivated and experienced solution seller with a deep knowledge of embedded finance
  • Ability to work in a hybrid or fully remote environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
