About the Role

Your day-to-day tasks will involve interpreting conversations, processing information quickly and concisely, and recognizing sensitive cultural differences. You will work in a fast-paced environment, often handling high-stakes calls, such as 911 emergencies. What You Will Do

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations
• Follow client instructions and protocol to ensure client expectations are met
• Understand protocol and terminology for various industries, including medical, insurance, and finance
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment
• Collaborate with other interpreters and support staff to ensure seamless communication
• Participate in ongoing training and development to improve interpretation skills
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improving interpretation services

What We Are Looking For

• Fluency in Kimiiru and English
• Strong interpretation skills, with the ability to process information quickly and accurately
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-stakes calls
• Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in interpretation or a related field preferred
• Experience working in interpretation or a related field, such as customer service or education
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software

Nice to Have

• Experience working with limited-English speakers or the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community
• Knowledge of industry-specific terminology and protocol
• Certification in interpretation, such as CI or CT
• Experience working in a remote or virtual environment
