Job Description

About the Role

The Landscaping Estimator role is a critical part of the construction and landscaping process, requiring a high level of attention to detail and analytical skills. As a Landscaping Estimator at Boomering Inc, you will be responsible for preparing highly accurate material takeoffs and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) focused on softscapes, planting, and turf requirements. You will work closely with Australian Project Managers and Estimating Leads to ensure compliance with Australian pricing standards and client templates.

The role involves collaborating daily with stakeholders via Microsoft Teams or Slack, and liaising with Australian plant nurseries and material suppliers to maintain an up-to-date pricing database. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Australian landscaping terminology, plant sizing, and turf species common to AU climates.

What You Will Do

  • Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs from architectural landscape drawings and engineering plans
  • Accurately quantify softscape elements, including turf varieties, topsoil volumes, mulch, shrubs, trees, and soil conditioners
  • Account for all associated requirements such as root barriers, tree staking, plant protection, and initial establishment watering periods
  • Compile detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) structured according to Australian pricing standards and client templates
  • Review Australian project specifications and National Construction Code (NCC) guidelines to ensure compliance in all material quantities
  • Identify discrepancies, omissions, or ambiguities in tender documents and draft Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Collaborate daily with AU-based Project Managers and Estimating Leads via Microsoft Teams or Slack
  • Liaise with Australian plant nurseries and material suppliers to maintain an up-to-date pricing database when required
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Australian landscaping terminology, plant sizing, and turf species common to AU climates
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes to Australian pricing standards and client templates

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 2-3 years of solid experience as a Landscape Estimator, Construction Estimator, or Quantity Surveyor directly supporting Australian clients
  • Deep understanding of Australian landscaping terminology, plant sizing (e.g., tube stock, 200mm pots, 45L bags), and turf species common to AU climates
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related construction discipline is highly advantageous
  • Advanced proficiency in digital takeoff software, specifically PlanSwift or Bluebeam Revu
  • Strong mastery of Microsoft Excel for compiling data, building formulas, and formatting BOQs
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex landscape blueprints, grading plans, and site sections
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical data to Australian stakeholders
  • Sharp attention to detail with zero tolerance for calculation errors
  • Strong time-management skills to consistently meet strict Australian tender deadlines
