Job Description

About the Role

The Language Lead-Malagasy position at Welo Global is a key role that requires a deep understanding of the Malagasy language and its cultural context. As a Language Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing linguistic tasks, managing quality assurance, and providing mentorship to linguists. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and other linguists to ensure the delivery of high-quality language services.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve providing expert-level translation, localization, and linguistic support for Malagasy language projects. You will review and edit translations to ensure they meet client requirements and quality standards, and implement quality control processes to resolve linguistic issues. You will also lead Malagasy language projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality benchmarks are met.

The ideal candidate will have a strong linguistic background, with native or near-native proficiency in Malagasy and excellent command of English. You will be a skilled leader with experience in managing teams and mentoring junior linguists. You will also have a strong understanding of the localization industry and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

What You Will Do

  • Provide expert-level translation, localization, and linguistic support for Malagasy language projects
  • Review and edit translations to ensure they meet client requirements and quality standards
  • Implement quality control processes and resolve linguistic issues, including terminology consistency and style adherence
  • Lead Malagasy language projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality benchmarks are met
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other linguists to meet project goals
  • Provide guidance and support to linguists and junior team members
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities for the team to enhance skills and expertise
  • Develop and maintain Malagasy language glossaries, style guides, and linguistic resources
  • Ensure adherence to client-specific requirements and language standards
  • Serve as a point of contact for linguistic queries and feedback from clients

What We Are Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Language Arts, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in translation, localization, or linguistic services
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Language Lead or in a Senior Linguist position
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Malagasy, with excellent command of English
  • Familiarity with translation and localization tools, such as CAT tools and TMS systems
  • Strong knowledge of linguistic quality assurance processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment
