About the Role
As a Lead Commercial Counsel at SpecterOps, you will be the primary legal partner for the Sales, Customer Success, Security, and Procurement teams. Your role will involve guiding and mentoring members of the contracts and legal staff, ensuring that all commercial contracts are properly managed and executed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work directly with the business to drive growth and improvement.The Lead Commercial Counsel will play a critical role in advancing the company's commercial capabilities, improving existing processes, and enhancing the overall contracting experience. This position requires a hands-on, business-minded attorney who is passionate about commercial deals and has a proven track record of success in contract management.
The Lead Commercial Counsel will report to the General Counsel and will work closely with various teams across the organization, including Sales, Customer Success, and Procurement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the commercial landscape, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial contracting strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives
- Manage and negotiate complex commercial contracts with customers, vendors, and partners
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all contracts are properly executed and meet business requirements
- Provide guidance and support to the Sales, Customer Success, and Procurement teams on contract-related matters
- Develop and maintain a contract management playbook that outlines best practices and procedures
- Conduct regular contract reviews to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and liabilities associated with commercial contracts
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and partners
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in commercial law and contract management
- Collaborate with the General Counsel to develop and implement a commercial law compliance program
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in commercial law, contract management, or a related field
- Strong background in contract law, including experience with sales, procurement, and customer success contracts
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proven track record of success in contract management, including experience with contract review, negotiation, and execution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions
- Experience with contract management software and tools, including contract databases and workflow management systems
- Strong understanding of commercial law and regulations, including experience with data protection and privacy laws
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong leadership skills, with experience guiding and mentoring junior staff members
Nice to Have
- Experience with digital transformation and the impact of technology on commercial contracts
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and laws, such as GDPR and CCPA
- Experience with contract automation and AI-powered contract management tools
- Certification in contract management, such as a Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) designation
