About the Role
The Lead Creative Strategist position at Launch Potato is a pivotal role that combines creative vision with data-driven strategy to drive performance across various marketing channels. This role is responsible for developing and owning the full upstream strategy behind creative assets, ensuring that every piece of content is grounded in real audience understanding. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in direct response creative strategy and performance media buying, with the ability to write production-ready briefs that can be executed without revision rounds.As part of Launch Potato's centralized hub-and-spoke creative model, the Lead Creative Strategist will work closely with the creative design team and media buyers to ensure seamless integration of strategy and execution. This involves maintaining a rolling content backlog, hitting monthly throughput targets, and proactively identifying untested formats and underserved verticals to maximize testing cadence.
What You Will Do
- Develop and own the full upstream strategy behind creative assets, including briefs for static, short-form video, long-form DR, display, YouTube, and emerging formats.
- Maintain a rolling content backlog with at least 4 weeks of net-new concepts that are brief-ready.
- Hit monthly throughput targets for net-new concepts across Launch Potato's full vertical portfolio.
- Own the balance between net-new concepts and iteration direction to maximize testing cadence and exploit proven winners.
- Analyze creative performance data with the paid media team to identify winners, flag fatigue, and determine what to test next.
- Translate performance findings into new briefs and updated creative direction.
- Maintain Launch Potato's creative playbook by documenting winning formulas by persona, vertical, and format.
- Lead competitive creative research on a regular cadence to study winning formats, hooks, and approaches.
- Drive cross-vertical learning by adapting winning strategies from one vertical to others.
- Manage the UGC creator pipeline end-to-end, including sourcing, vetting, contracting, briefing, and performance review.
- Maintain the Airtable UGC creator dashboard as the single source of truth.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience with direct response creative strategy ownership and performance media buying.
- Strong understanding of what makes a strong hook, the importance of persona targeting, and what drives user engagement.
- Demonstrated experience writing production-ready briefs that creative teams can execute without revision rounds.
- Performance data fluency, with the ability to read results, identify drivers, and translate findings into creative direction.
- Experience managing UGC creators from sourcing through delivery.
- Ability to work across multiple verticals and formats simultaneously without losing strategic focus.
- Strong copywriting ability, including scripts, hooks, headlines, and ad copy.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to drive creative strategy.
