About the Role

The Lead International Accountant role at Sproutsocial is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth company and make a significant impact on the organization's financial systems. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for managing international accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements. The finance team is not your typical month-end close department; instead, it's focused on building out financial systems to support every business production. This means that as the Lead International Accountant, you will have a granular view and understanding of how a business scales from the ground up.

What You Will Do

  • Own the overall international accounting processes, including compliance, and provide advanced expertise to ensure the accurate and timely completion of financial statements for Sproutsocial's 7 international subsidiaries
  • Work closely with tax, payroll, legal, and other accounting teams to ensure deadlines and obligations are met, functioning as a project manager when necessary
  • Oversee five international audits from beginning to end, working in conjunction with third-party partners
  • Own the relationship with third-party service providers who assist with local filings and compliance
  • Drive process improvements to ensure efficient operations and create new processes to accommodate the company's changing and growing business
  • Review the work of other team members and provide coaching and feedback as needed
  • Serve as the go-to person for international accounting and tangent processes
  • Collaborate with the finance team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that affect international accounting
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business decisions
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business growth

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent business degree
  • 6+ years of experience in Accounting or Audit, including 2+ years of experience in International accounting
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing relationships and compliance with third-party accounting-service providers
  • Hands-on experience with accounting tools like NetSuite, Excel
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and relevant laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
